**The Gehlenbeck St. Nicholas Church on Nikolausweg**
The Gehlenbeck St. Nicholas Church is the oldest church building on Nikolausweg. It has a long history dating back to the 10th century.

The current church building was built in 1495 in the Gothic style and still characterizes the townscape today.

**Predecessor buildings and historical mention**

There was already a predecessor church on this site in the 10th century. The "Nikolai Church in Gelenbeke" was first mentioned in a document in 1165.

**Image cycle and frescoes in the interior**

In the interior of the church, on the north side, there are remains of an image cycle showing a fresco of St. Nicholas in bishop's regalia.
